Questions traders ask

What is a tick in futures?

A tick is the smallest price step a contract can move. Its dollar value is fixed by the exchange for each contract, so a 10-tick move in one contract always pays or costs the same amount.

What is the difference between tick value and point value?

Point value is what a move of 1.00 in the quoted price is worth. Tick value is what the smallest allowed move is worth. For ES, a point is four ticks.
